Hysteroscopic surgery
Hysteroscopy is a procedure where camera is inserted into the womb and surgeries like polyp removal or fibroid removal can be done. It is also used for assessment of uterine cavity in cases of infertility and septum removal, tube test or uterine cavity enlargement can be done. Hysteroscopy can also be used for detection of uterine cancer and biopsy. Patients can go home the same day of the procedure.
What to expect when having a Hysteroscopic procedure?
There are no cuts or stitches involved
You may need only a few hours stay in the hospital, in fact, many of these can be done as an office procedure (without anaesthesia or hospital admission)
You will be put to sleep for a maximum of 20 to 30 mins
Immediately after waking up from the procedure, you can eat and drink and be mobile. No urine catheter is kept and you can go home almost 3 hours after procedure after passing urine comfortably.
You may experience some lower tummy cramps as we use high pressure saline during the procedure which remains inside the tummy and gets absorbed over a day
You may experience some vaginal clear fluid discharge or bleeding like a period
